Dr. Lamprini Malletzidou is a physicist specializing in Solid State Physics, Materials Science, and Archaeometry. She received her BSc in Physics from the School of Physics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) in 2014, followed by an MSc in Materials Physics and Technology from the same department in 2016. In 2021, she received her PhD in Physics from AUTh for her research on the physicochemical investigation of Late Post-Byzantine wall paintings, the study of fire-induced alterations in pigment layers, and the development of luminescence-based dating protocols for calcium sulfates.
From 2021 to 2024, she conducted postdoctoral research in the Department of Condensed Matter and Materials Physics at the School of Physics, AUTh, focusing on infrared spectroscopic imaging techniques and their application to the characterization of cultural heritage materials.
Since 2023, she has been a member of the Laboratory of Archaeometry and Physicochemical Measurements at the Athena Research Center in Xanthi, where her work focuses on physicochemical and luminescence analyses of materials, as well as the application of artificial intelligence to the physical sciences and archaeometry.
Her research interests include archaeometry and the characterization of cultural heritage materials; spectroscopic and thermal analytical techniques (FTIR/μ-FTIR, Raman, XRD, XPS, XRF, SEM-EDS, TGA, DSC, UV-Vis, and NIR); the study of material ageing and degradation; luminescence dosimetry applications; the characterization of polymers and composite materials; thermoelectric materials; circular economy materials; and artificial intelligence applications for material analysis and classification.
She has participated in national and European research projects (ESPA, Erasmus+, and Horizon Europe), serving both as a member of research teams and in project management roles. She has extensive teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, having independently taught courses in Physics and Physics Education at the Democritus University of Thrace, while also contributing to postgraduate programmes at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has served on MSc three-member examination committees and has mentored undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students in their research activities.
Her research includes publications in peer-reviewed international scientific journals, presentations at international and national conferences, and awards for both oral and poster presentations. She also serves as a reviewer for international scientific journals and is actively involved in the preparation and submission of research proposals.
