TERMS OF SERVICE
1. General
The Laboratory of Archaeometry and Physicochemical Measurements of the Athena Research Center provides specialised analytical and research services to individuals and legal entities.
Use of the services constitutes unreserved acceptance of these Terms.
2. Scope of Services
The Laboratory provides services including, indicatively:
- archaeometric analyses,
- physicochemical analyses,
- structural analyses of materials,
- radiological measurements,
- scientific documentation and preparation of reports.
The methods and techniques to be used are selected exclusively by the Laboratory based on scientific criteria.
3. Categories of Data
In the context of the services, the Laboratory collects and processes:
- sample data (codes, descriptions, provenance, and material characteristics),
- analytical data (measurements, spectroscopic data, and calculations),
- metadata (measurement parameters and analysis conditions).
The above data are scientific and technical data and do not constitute personal data.
4. Intellectual Property and Rights of Use
All data generated by the Laboratory, including:
- measurements,
- analyses,
- reports,
- scientific interpretations,
are the intellectual property of the Athena Research Center, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
The Laboratory and, by extension, the Athena Research Center reserve the right to:
- use the data for educational or research purposes and scientific publications,
- use the data for method development,
- use the data in anonymised or aggregated form.
5. Use of Results by the Client
The client:
- receives the results report for its own use,
- may not alter the results or present them in a misleading manner,
- must acknowledge the Laboratory of the Athena Research Center in any scientific publication.
Any further commercial use of the results report is permitted only under a specific written agreement with the Athena Research Center.
6. Confidentiality
The Laboratory undertakes to:
- keep client data confidential,
- not disclose information without the client’s authorisation.
The confidentiality obligation does not apply where:
- there is a legal obligation to disclose the data,
- disclosure is required by a competent authority.
7. Data Retention
Data may be retained in the Laboratory’s databases for:
- scientific documentation,
- verification of results,
- future research use.
The retention period is determined according to scientific and operational criteria.
8. Limitation of Liability
The Laboratory and the Athena Research Center:
- make every reasonable effort to ensure the accuracy of the results. The technical report delivered is prepared based on the scientific standards accepted at the time and the additional information made available to the Laboratory,
- accept no liability for any financial or other loss, whether direct or indirect, actual or consequential, arising from use of the results report or where the results or delivered report prove to be incorrect, unless the loss was caused by wilful misconduct,
- accept no liability for use of the results beyond the purpose for which they were delivered,
- do not warrant that the services provided will meet the client’s requirements,
- do not guarantee any specific commercial or operational outcome.
9. Service Fees
Services are provided for a fee, and each service is charged separately even where the same samples are used.
The Laboratory reserves the right to:
- set a minimum charge,
- apply additional charges in cases of increased complexity.
10. Amendments
The Laboratory reserves the right to amend these Terms.
11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by Greek and European Union law. The courts of Athens shall have exclusive jurisdiction to resolve any related dispute or matter.
